Our Mass Communications students, accompanied by departmental faculty and staff, visited the historic Maspero building, which houses the state-based Egyptian radio and television facilities. The students toured various landmark studios, including where music legends Um Kalthoum and Abdelhalim Hafez recorded their songs, as well as more recently established studios for channels like Nile TV, Nile News, and others. Students also witnessed the live radio news bulletin inside the widely followed Radio Masr station.
Not only did the Mass Comms delegation take pictures with the original piano that late composer Mohamed Abdelwahab himself played, but they also visited the control rooms of multiple channels that transmit from Maspero, such as Nile Family. They also saw studios named after influential media figures like Mamdouh Elleithy, observed how a live talk show on Al-Bernameg Al-‘Aam radio station was meticulously directed, and watched the preparation for an upcoming live TV cooking show.
