Doctor Ashraf Mohamed Abdelbasset Bakr is a professor of pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine - and is an ex-president of Mansoura University, Before that, he held several managerial and administrative positions including Vice President of Mansoura University for Education and Student Affairs (2016); Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University (2010-2011); Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Education at the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University (2007-2010); Vice Manager of Mansoura University Children's Hospital (2001-2007); and Cheif of the Pediatric Nephrology Unit at the Mansoura University Children; Hospital (2003-2016). Also, he serves on the board of Trustees of New Mansoura University.

Professor Bakr earned his M.D. in Pediatric (1990) and BA in Medicine and Surgery (1985) from Mansoura University. He was a Research Fellow at the Pediatric Nephrology Unit and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University in New York (1992-1994) and a visiting Consultant at the Pediatric Nephrology Unit, Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham, UK (2003), He has supervised more than 60 Master's and Ph.D. dissertations. Professor Bakr is a peer reviewer for 19 Journals and serves on the editorial board of 12 journals. He published 60 articles in peer-reviewed. His II-Index in seopus:14, and citation 773 (2022).

Since 2009, Professor Bakr has been an arbitrator in the scientific committee for the promotion of faculty members in Pediatrics and has served as Secretary of the committee from 2013 to 2016. Since 2008, he has been a peer reviewer for the evaluation of new educational programs and participated in the performance evaluation of higher education institutions. he is a member of the General Assembly of the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture and the Egyptian Genome Council, and ex-Chair of the Committee for Nominating University Presidents. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the Egyptian Medical Council in Pediatrics (2012-2016) and the Medical Sciences Sector Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education (2010-2011). Professor Bakr is the Recipient of several prestigious awards.
