Professor Wanees Badawy

Professor Wanees Mohamed Badawy is a highly educated professional in the field of physical therapy, having obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Cairo University in 1997, where he graduated with a GPA of Very Good. He pursued further studies at the same institution, earning a Master of Science in Physical Therapy for Neuromuscular Disorders and Its Surgery in 2004. His dissertation, titled "Trunk muscle torque as a predictor of falling in stroke patients," also received a GPA of Very Good. In 2012, he completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the same specialization, with a dissertation focused on "Trunk kinetic and kinematic changes in chronic stroke patients," and was awarded a GPA of Good.


Professor Badawy currently holds the position of Professor of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Physical Therapy at Cairo University, a role he has occupied since 2023. Prior to this, he served as an Associate Professor at various institutions, including the School of Health and Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire and the Department of Physical Therapy for Neurology at Delta University for Science and Technology in Egypt. His extensive background includes positions as an Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and Assistant Lecturer, demonstrating a comprehensive progression in his academic career.

Throughout his tenure, Prof. Badawy has received numerous honors, including the title of Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in 2022 and recognition for international scientific publications from both Jouf University and Cairo University. He has also been acknowledged for his contributions to quality services and national accreditation initiatives in the field of physiotherapy.


With vast teaching experience, Prof. Badawy has lectured on a variety of topics in physical therapy at institutions in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the USA. His postdoctoral training at Winston Salem State University in North Carolina has further enriched his teaching capabilities, focusing on research, education, and student management.


Professor Badawy has held numerous administrative positions throughout his career. He served as the Vice Director of the Quality Assurance Unit and as Director of Foreign Students Affairs at the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University. His contributions extend to roles in international relations and academic advising at Jouf University in Saudi Arabia, where he also coordinated programs and served as the Head of the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Rehabilitation.


Dr. Badawy's research interests primarily focus on functional disabilities stemming from vascular, traumatic, and degenerative disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. He specializes in postural stability and motor control theories, contributing significantly to the advancement of physical therapy through his studies and publications. He has supervised numerous Master’s theses and is active in continuous professional development, participating in various training programs and workshops.


Professor Wanees Mohamed Badawy is an exceptionally qualified and experienced physiotherapist and educator with a notable academic trajectory. His commitment to teaching, research, and service has made him a valuable asset in the field of physical therapy.
